Dialogue between a buyer and a seller / Diálogo entre un comprador y un vendedor

Don Quijote

I have written a dialogue between a buyer and a seller. There are lots of curious words and  phrases in this dialogue. Would you care to read it out loud with me?

He escrito un diálogo entre un comprador y un vendedor. Hay muchas palabras y frases curiosas en este diálogo.¿Te interesaría leerlo en voz alta conmigo?

Sancho

Read it? I´ll learn it by heart!

¿Leerlo? ¡Me lo aprenderé de memoria!

Customer: Good morning. I’d like to buy a pair of boots.
Salesperson: Hello. You´ve come to the right place. Have you seen any you like in our shop windows?
Customer: Yes, I have. I´ve seen a pair of brown, high-heeled boots that I would like to try on.
Salesperson: Let´s step outside so you can show me which they are.
Customer: There they are. The ones on the left.
Salesperson: Oh. Yes, those are really nice ones. What´s your size?
Customer: Size 38, almost always.
Salesperson: I´ll go into the backroom and bring out a pair in your size. It´ll just take a minute.
Customer: Ok. I´ll sit here and wait.
Salesperson: Here you are! Trendy brown boots in sizes 37 and 38 for you to try on.
Customer: Thank you. Oh, I think they’re a bit tight. Could I try on a 38 and a half pair?
Salesperson: Hmmm. We have no half sizes. And we´ve got no boots like these in size 39 left. But we do have some size 39 boots just like these ones in grey and black.
Customer: No, I already have black and grey boots. And I have my heart set on brown ones.
Salesperson: We do have other models. Why don´t you have a look at the ones we have on the stands over there?
Customer: This stand?
Salesperson: No, not this one. The items on this stand are shoes from past seasons. They´re on clearance. Those stands on the right.
Customer: I don´t know. Maybe this one. How much does a pair of these cost?
Salesperson: Those boots cost a hundred and fifty euros.
Customer: Wow! That´s twice as much as the ones I tried on.
Salesperson: I think you should check out the model with the silver buckle. They’re the latest thing and they’re much less expensive.
Customer: I must say this boot is a lovely shade of brown. And it´s size 39. I´ll try it on. Let me see...left foot.
Salesperson: I´ll go get the right foot boot so you can try the pair on.
Customer: Hmm. These fit much better. They’re quite comfortable, really. And you say these are on sale?
Salesperson: They’re 20 per cent off the regular price, which is 100 euros. You can have them for 80.
Customer: Why are they on sale if you say they are the latest thing? Only last summer´s stuff is on sale. Isn´t that so?
Salesperson: These boots have a discount because they are the only pair we have. The shoemaker sent them to us so we could see if we liked them. We sure do, so we´ll order more. Only we will sell those for a hundred euros. These boots are just a sample, that´s why we can sell them cheaper.
Customer: I see. Are they all leather?
Salesperson: They certainly are. And they´re made in Valencia.
Customer: Ok, I´ll take these.
Salesperson: Great. Will that be all? Yes? Please follow me to the counter then.
Customer: I´m going to pay with a hundred euro bill.
Salesperson: Fine, that will be 80 euros, so here´s your ticket and here´s your change, which is twenty euros. Please keep the ticket because you might need to change or return the boots. You have a month to do that. Do you want your boots in their box or just in a bag?
Customer: Just in a bag, please. All I would do with the box is dump it in a recycling bin.
Salesperson: Here you are then. Thank you.
Customer: Thank you and goodbye!
Salesperson: Have a nice day!
Customer: You too! ´Bye!
